[comp.sys.ibm.pc] 80286 Loadall instruction

stan@ucla-an.UUCP (Stan Stead) (05/12/88)

Can anyone provide a reference for the Intel 80286 undocumented
instruction, LOADALL?
I would appreciate any information on its use, abuse, syntax and coding
examples.
If there is sufficient interest, I will post a summary back to this
newsgroup.
	Thank you.

		THE SECRET 80286 LOADALL INSTRUCTION

The low-down on the secret 80286 loadall instruction is now available.
I have a file for general distribution (feel free to pass it around), which
contains a tutorial on the use of Loadall, and also the assembly-language
sources for a program, which will read and display any and all of extended
memory (or low memory), while staying in REAL mode, by using Loadall. The
tutorial and sources make it pretty clear how you do it. For 80286 machines
ONLY.

The file is a uu-encoded PK-zipped archive, which can be Emailed (I
think: it's about 50Kb). To unpack it, you will need to first uudecode it on
any machine that has uudecode (big or PC), and then PKUNZIP it on a PC.

If you want this file, send an email note to me at
76416.553@compuserve.com (yes, ugh! Compuserve), telling me how to get it to
you. Any advice on where to send it for general public librarying would also
be appreciated. Please do not reply to this account, as it's a friend's. I
can send from this account, but I do not recieve mail here (Screwy sub-nets).
I do also recieve at terry@scopes.unm.edu (but can't send from there). As a
last resort, if you are having trouble getting through the nets to me, send a
note to another friend, Forrest Black, 4rst@doc.cs.unm.edu
