][ I'm looking for some advice on accounting packages for the PC. We currently do things the Old Fashioned Way (ledgers, etc.) and were interested in moving into the twentieth century. :) (We are, however, a WordPerfect 5.1/dBase IV shop.) The Organization uses the ``cash accounting'' method (rather than the ``accrual'' accounting method). We're a non-profit organization so software price is a factor (e.g., a $2K accounting package is out of the question.) In terms of volume, we handle roughly a million dollars per year. While we're not anxious (yet) to have the computer write checks (we've got a rather large inventory remaining on the checks we currently use), we do want to get started with tracking and posting to the various fifty or so accounts we maintain. (I almost began writing a system in dBIV, but my time won't allow for that plus my other duties.) Any recommendations would be appreciated! -- michael regoli Organization of American Historians mr@cica.indiana.edu Indiana University regoli@iubacs.bitnet 112 North Bryan Street ...rutgers!iuvax!cica!mr Bloomington IN 47408
