[comp.sys.ibm.pc] Replacing my keyboard ROM

lulu@ucrmath.UCR.EDU (david lu) (05/27/90)

Attention Hardware Gurus, (:-)

While playing with my 286 motherboard, I seem to have
fried my keyboard ROM. I believe the BIOS is still OK, as the
POST tests the RAM's OK. However, it's not recognizing my
keyboard. It doesn't even light up my keyboard status indicators
when I boot the machine :-<. Does anyone know any retailer who
sells *only* the keyboard ROM's? Basically, The one I fried is
made by AMI, with a 1989 copyright date on it. The serial number
is 995756. The chip says "286 BIOS PLUS KEYBOARD".

Is it even possible to replace *only* this chip, without
changing the BIOS that I've already have? Also, about what kind
of price am I looking at? I'd appreciate any information that
you might have.
