I just acquired my first LaserJetII and am looking for a source of pd symbol fonts for mathematical word processing (using Word 5). I have the HP Times-Roman/Helevetica font set but the cost of additional downloadable fonts from HP seems excessive. Are there either PD or shareware downloadable fonts out there in the PC world (there seem to be tons in the MAC world). Thanks in advance Neal Beck (email: beck@ucsd.edu)

I suggest you read some of the PC magazines. In any case, you might buy a font cartridge. The collection cartridges contain from 65 to 172 fonts. They are made by HP, IQ engineering, Pacific Page and various possibly-trustworthy others. The collection cartridges have quite a selection and save you time required to download fonts (plus possibly the extra printer memory required to download into). The cartridges typically cost $200-300 mailorder. sk
