Hello, I have a simple question. Does the VGA standard encompass the EGA standard ? I am curious about both hardware and software compatiblity. The EGA standard provided backward compatibility with CGA monitors. Does the same relationship hold with the VGA standard ? The reason I am asking is that I currently own an EGA monitor/card combo, and I would like to upgrade in stages. I would like to buy a VGA card first, followed by a VGA monitor sometime later.
