Has anyone experienced any problems after upgrading from PC Tools 5.5 to
6.0? I've seen a bunch of problems in the past few weeks on four machines
with four different copies of PC Tools 6.0. They are as follows...
1. Acer 1100/25 (25MHz 386), DOS 3.3, QEMM 5.0
PC-CACHE does not work with QEMM 5.0 installed. Had to fall back
to PC-CACHE 5.5.
2. IBM PS/2-55SX (16MHz 386SX), DOS 3.3, QEMM 5.0
PC-CACHE 6.0 can only run if write-cache is turned off
COMPRESS occasionally locks up
3. ACER 1100SX (16MHZ 386SX), DOS 3.3, no QEMM (in fact, I removed
AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS at one point to see if PC TOOLS was
colliding with some device driver or TSR).
COMPRESS locks machine everytime
4. Compuadd 10MHz 286, DOS 3.3
PC-CACHE 6.0 works only if write-cache is turned off
Has anyone else had problems with PCTOOLS 6.0? I'd like more evidence and
information before I make a nasty call to Central Point Software. ..todd
