Your hard disk may be there and in working order. If you have an AT, the BIOS tables might have been wiped out. A few days ago, a friend and I were trying to repair an AT with hard drive problems. When we turned it on, It checked the RAM, then did nothing. At first, we thought it was the controller, but a new one didn't help. When we checked the BIOS tables, they said that there were no drives in the computer. Once we told it that it had drives, and what they were, It ran fine, and all the files were intact. To get to the BIOS tables, you hit Ctrl-Alt-Esc as it is trying to boot, or at least that's what worked on this one. It was an Award BIOS. Good Luck! Nina Banerjee
