This film is ostensibly about the reunion of five members of a fan club called "The Disciples of James Dean" on the twentieth anniversary of his death. All the action takes place in a 5 & 10 cent store in a small west Texas town. The set is a masterpiece all by itself. There are only about seven people in the whole movie including Sandy Denis, Cher and Karen Black. The casting and acting are superb. The movie has as an underlying theme the lies we tell ourselves and believe. It has touches of humor, great dramatic scenes filled with emotion and a brilliant evocation of time and place.
