Does anyone know about the IBM PCjr floppy drives? I need to find a replacement for the first physical drive. The drive does not appear to be a standard PC drive. The system is configured with an expansion unit that has a second floppy drive. When I switched the ribbon cable connector to make the second drive the first, I had to change a jumper setting on the second drive to make it work. The ribbon cable does not have the usual *twist* that is found in the PC. The drives are manufactured by *Qume*. I am wondering if anyone knows where a drive may be found since there is not much of a demand for the PCjr. I am also wondering if it might be possible to use a standard PC drive for the first drive on the PCjr. I am doing this for a friend who got the machine as a hand-me-down, and I do not wish to spend a great deal of time or effort in fixing this. Any help or knowledge would be gratly appreciated. Your best bet is a company called PC Enterprises. Order desk number is (800)-922-PCjr They also provide technical support. The drive should be a standard 1/2 height 360K drive. The customer service desk number is (201) 280-0025 and they should be able to direct you. I think that they charge $25. for a Tech Assist call. Hope this helps.
