[comp.sys.ibm.pc] 3.5 inch disks that don't care ?

werner@aecom.yu.edu (Craig Werner) (06/13/90)

My computer has a pair of Mitsubishi 3.5 inch disks that don't
check for the high density hole, and thus will format 1M or 2M floppies
to 1.44M, and hence for everything but my backup disks I tempt fate and
coercitivity and use the cheaper disks as high density.

A friend wants to add a 3.5 inch disk to here system, and my
question is, does anybody else have 3.5 inch drives that don't check for
"proper" density, and what brand are they. I'm trying to accumulate a
list. Please respond either aye or nay. Thank you.
