Hello! I need some help. I am putting together a PC system and am now putting in my hard disks. I have a ST-412 (10meg-full height) (ooolllddd) and a fujistu M2230 AT (10 meg-half height) drives. I have , for a controller , a WD1002S-WX2 rev. E +D2 . My questions: 1. I could do a low level format on the ST-412 and a FDISK. But I could not do a FORMAT c: /s . It said the disk was not ready. 2. Does anybody know anything about the Fujistu drive. I need to know- a. This is for the low level format. 1. total # cylinders. 2. Number of heads. 3. starting reduced write current cylinder. 4. write precomp cylinder. 5. max correctable error burst length. 6. ccb option byte, step rate select. b. The disk has two sets of switches. What do they represent ? ------- ---------- --- | | | | | | -------------------------------| | 1 -- | | | | | | | | | | | | | | 8| | | | -- -- | | 1| | | | | | | | | | | | 8| | | | -- | | | | | | | | front | --------------------------------- 3. Does any body have any information on the controller? WD1002S-WX2 rev. E +D2 . The ROM # = WD Autogen 62-000043-010 D900 There are straps on it W1 thru W7. A switch (SW1) (actually straps) it is numbered: -- | | 5 | | 6 | | 7 | | 8 | | 4 | | 3 | | 2 | | 1 -- 4. The ST-412 has a set of switches also. I have good idea how to set them but I want to make sure. Thank you in advance for any help. ====================================================================== = UUCP: ucsd \ James Mealhouse = = NCR: ncrcae - !ncr-sd!onion!jam UNIX UNION Development = = ARPA: nosc / NCR E&M San Diego = = or try james.mealhouse@SanDiego.NCR.COM (619)485-3035 = ====================================================================== ======================================================================== James Mealhouse (619)485-3035 UNIX UNION Group MS 4777 james.mealhouse@onion.SanDiego.NCR.COM ====================================================================== = UUCP: ucsd \ James Mealhouse = = NCR: ncrcae - !ncr-sd!onion!jam UNIX UNION Development =
