[comp.sys.ibm.pc] Windows 3.0 troubles with Northgate

anderson@cme.nist.gov (William E. Anderson) (06/14/90)

I am unable to run Windows 3.0 in 386 enhanced mode on my Northgate
386 machine. The symptoms are that the screen is a mess and the
cursor usually locks up. Substituting the Northgate-supplied vga-16
board with a Paradise 8-bit board solves the problem. Northgate can
not explain this (they suggest not using enhanced mode). Any ideas?

I am running Windows 3.0 on my Northgate SL 20 in enhanced 386 mode.
Everything runs fine. Of course, the software was sent to me by
Northgate. I wonder they make some changes to Windows 3.0 they are
destributing.
