#Having never needed backup/restore (use a QIC-40 drive), I'm trying to
#help a friend restore some 'backup' diskettes. The command I use is
#'restore a: c:\*.* /s'. The system then prompts for the first diskette,
#displays the backup date, does some 'disk crunching' and then asks for
#the succeeding diskettes, until it finishes. Problem is nothing gets
#restored.
#
#These diskettes were 'backuped' under msdos 3.2 on a tandy machine. I
#tried restoring them on his machine, and then my machine using msdos 4.01
#which is supposingly backward compatible, but I get the same results.
#
#Looking at the diskettes (dir), I see the individual files, and the
#'backupid.@@@' file. I understand that dos 3.3+ saves everything in
#1 huge file. So am I missing something obvious or what? Also is there
#any technical reference that explains the octal fields in the 'backupid.@@@'
#file? Thanx in advance.

Significant changes were made in the code for the dos backup and restore
utilities and the 4.x versions are NOT compatible with any 3.x versions.
