From: ttn8@erato.cs.kun.nl (ttn cursus) Path: erato!ttn8 Hello, some time ago, I accidently started up some code in my harddisk bios. It was part of the low level format routine and I was asked if I wanted to format my harddisk. Of course I answered no, and nothing happened, BUT after turning the power of my computer on or after a reboot, I get the following message: Drive C has not been installed, and does not contain installation software Do you want to install this unit? (y/n) When I type an 'n' everything is ok, the computer still boots from my harddisk, no files are corrupted, everything looks the same. There is a way to avoid this, just low level format it, but I don't want to if I don't have to. Is there any way to get rid of this question at every startup or after every reboot?? My drive is a Seagate ST250R and is supplied with 'Seagate ST11 BIOS REVISION 2.0.0' (I don't know if the last is of any use). If anyone has any suggestions (apart from: perform a low lovel format), please e-mail me. Thanks in advance. Hello again, I thank those who already sent mails with suggestions. Maybe there are others who know an answer to my problem (the suggestions I already received didn't help). There is a little problem, my account ttn8 has been closed, so if you send something please mail it to: vlsi3@erato.cs.kun.nl otherwise you'll get it returned.
