[comp.sys.ibm.pc] Displaying 24-bit Color on an IBM PC

jjr@ut-emx.UUCP (07/10/90)

I need to display 24-bit color images on an IBM PC AT.
Who sells the necessary hardware?

A recently introduced product from Hercules (Berkeley, CA) called the
HGSC (Hercules Graphics Station Controller) is the least expensive such
device I have heard of (List $1024, I have seen it advertised for $755
-- at McTek, Berkeley, CA). It does the normal VGA/super VGA modes up
to 1024x768 at 8bits/pixel as well as 24 bits/pixel at 512x480 and
15 bits/pixel at 640x480.

The standard configuration includes a TI 34010 and 1 MB memory. A version
with more memory (not for display, for the 34010) is also announced.
It is supposed to implement the TIGA (TI Graphics Adapter?) interface
in addition to super VGA.

I have seen no reviews yet but I have seen the board at a dealer's shop
(McTek). I have no connection with McTek except as a pleased customer.
They are at (415) 525-5129.
