[comp.sys.ibm.pc] 4DOS 3.00 BUG

smithj@ohstpy.mps.ohio-state.edu (07/10/90)

I'm sorry if this has been discussed before.

One serious bug with 4DOS 3.00 I found involves the use of APPEND.
I KNOW that they admit that it doesn't work but they also give a way to
get around it:

alias append command /c append

which loads in COMMAND.COM, sets append and then returns.
This works except for one bizarre side-effect:
You are no longer able to copy any files with the same name as any files in a
directory on the append list. 4DOS claims the file has been copied but it
never shows up. This is especially annoying when you use 'move' and the
originalgets erased.

If this has been fixed in 3.01a let me know.
