Could be the controller? no?

I've seen IDE-8 and IDE-10 listed on the sheet. The number after the dash means (according to the sheet) that it's the maximum bus speed that it can handle. Basically the drive is rated to run with a 10 MHz bus and IDE basically is an extension of the ISA bus into a hard drive adaptor if my speculation is correct. So what may be the case, but an off the wall case, is that you have an IDE-10 drive running on an 8 MHz bus. As for the controller itself, the controller on an IDE drive is on the drive, just like SCSI. In fact, I sort of look at it as an ISA bus version of SCSI. This is new to me, I just thought I'd throw this out and see what'd bite... // JCA /* **--------------------------------------------------------------------------* ** Flames : /dev/null | Small memory model only for ** ARPANET : crash!pnet01!jca@nosc.mil | Unix?
