I need help with a hard disk problem I am having on my PC. I have a 150 meg CDC ESDI hard drive partitioned using SpeedStor software as a 32 meg C: drive and the rest as a SpeedStor D: drive. During a recent heat wave the computer was left on and got quite hot. When I got back home I got nothing but sector not found messages when trying to use the drive. I turned the computer off and the next day everything seemed to be okay again. However now I occasionally get a sector not found message and once that happens I cannot reboot (warm or cold boot) without getting the message diskette error. When booting off a floppy with the SpeedStor partition device driver I get the message: "Partition Sector Cannot Be Read." If I leave the computer off for a while then it works when I turn it back on. Any ideas what might cause this? I'm thinking of re-formatting the disk on the off chance that the heat may have corrupted some system area data. Please write to me directly as I do not read this conference very often. Thanks, Will Estes (sun!portal!cup.portal.com!Will)
