I recently acquired a 40MB tape drive manufactured by Colorado Memory Systems, Inc. The model number is XR4E and it is an external system. The manual has specifies another model number: 811620. The software that comes with the drive performs the basic backup functions but does not have any compression options. I have read about drives with software that can perform 2:1 compression. Is there an update program available from CMS or another source that can do compression on my drive? Any response will be greatly appreciated. Yes, there are programs that can do this. One is PC Tools V6 which is what I use for that drive. The compression averages about 35-40% depending on the type of files (mainly exe's in my case). /s/ Bob Gettys N1BRM Usual disclaimers apply
