Hi, I have Wordstar 5, and a Brother HR15-XL, with a serial interface, my machine is an XT no-name clone. I'm encountering difficulty printing. Short documents, such as single page letters, come out ok, but larger documents go haywire, about three quarters into the first page, overprinting, skipping spaces, lines, and terminating abruptly. It's almost as if WS or my clone could not see the handshake from the printer saying its buffer was full (but that's just my theory). Shorter documents (or even full page, sparser documents, with fewer characters) print just fine. I'm using the official Brother serial cable, at $30 (!). Or, rather, I bought the printer from Mid West Micro (sp?) Peripherals, and they shipped this as the official cable; it has no markings on it. For wordstar, I picked Diablo 630 as the printer description file, since Brother HR15XL was not listed. Please help. I ordered the serial cable separately, because Brother has a bizarre serial interface, and I hoped it would fix the problem. My serial card allows some flexibility, such as tying some strobes asserted, but I haven't played with that. Perhaps diablo 630 is not exactly right for ws printer definition file ? Please send email; I'll try out the solutions and post a summary Thanks much, / Jon Sreekanth US Mail : J Sreekanth, 79 Apsley Street, Apt #7, Hudson, MA 01749 Digital Equipment Corp., 77 Reed Road, HLO2-1/J12, Hudson, MA 01749 email : sreekanth@rgb.dec.com Voice : 508-562-3358 eves, 508-568-7195 work
