[comp.sys.ibm.pc] Info on Intel '387

ratazzie@lonex.radc.af.mil (E. Paul Ratazzi) (03/27/91)

I have a Cyrix 83D87 Coprossesor which seems to be causing thermal problems
on my CPU/memory ("two-boards-into-one-slot-stuck-together-like-a-sandwich"
configuration) card.

Since the manufacturer of the CPU card probably tested the setup using an
Intel 80387, I am curious if the Cyrix chip's power dissipation is
significantly different than that of an Intel 80387, thus causing thermal
problems which wouldn't occur if I used an Intel chip.

Question --->>> Does anyone know the maximum power dissipation of an Intel
80387, running at 25MHz? How about at 33MHz?

Thanks,
