I have an old IBM-PC (8088 processor, bios dated 1982) that I am in the process
of upgrading. I hope to install high density 3.5 and 5.25 floppy drives and a
high capacity hard drive (60-100 MB). I have seen comments about the need to
upgrade BIOS for such upgrades, and also mention made of control cards that can
run 2 high density floppy drives and 2 hard drives, with the upgraded BIOS on
board. If anyone has experience in this sort of upgrade, or names of reputable
vendors to recommend to me, please let me know. Please, no suggestions of get
a new computer. The funding I have allows for system parts, but not new system
purchase. Besides, I finally have gotten this system customized to suit me,
and if the next grant goes through, I can then purchase a second system, to go
with this one.
