[comp.sys.ibm.pc] 80287 on a 80386DX machine?

ngkong@oregon.uoregon.edu (04/16/91)

Hi,
	My computer, a 80386, 20Mhz, supports both the 287 and 387 math-co-
processor. Can anyone tell me what differences that would be if I go for the
cheaper 287. The only 287 I would buy/afford is the AMD clone.
Your comment/recommendation is appreciated. E-mails welcome!

Depends on your application. I'm using the 386/287 combination.

Most DOS applications should work - I tested AutoCad 9, Turbo Pascal,
Lotus 123.

Unix and gcc for MSDOS require a 80387, though.
