[comp.sys.ibm.pc] BRING MY MOUSE TO LIFE

mulligan@coral.bucknell.edu (04/24/91)

Hi there!

I need some help with an RS-232 card for my IBM clone. I have a
MAGITRONIC
MODEL P II-108
RS-232 card. That is all I know, since the computer is second-hand (from
my uncle). I'm trying to use the card to run a BSR serial mouse, but the
little rodent won't respond at all. The COM ports seem to be set right in the
files, and the drivers are installed, but no luck. We think the boared is bad,
but we are confused by the array of DIP switches on the board. No manual came
with the thing, and we don't know if the switche settings are right.

Switches:
number name on board current setting
1 channel 1 on
2 chan. 2 on
3 chan. 3 off
4 chan. 4 off
5 first off
6 first on
7 second on
8 second off
9 chan. 2 off
10 chan. 1 off

OK, you now know all that I know. I'm relatively new to IBM ownership, so send
me any advice, even if it seems overly simplistic. Does anyone have a book on
this board, or any information on using it? Any suggestions other than trying
every possible combination?

Please email if possible, since I don't have time to read news on a regular
basis.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH IN ADVANCE!!!!!!!
