Hi...I just decided to replace my st506 drive with an IDE drive. I swapped out the controller and installed the disk. Now comes the problem. My BIOS setup program doesn't have this one listed, so I need to input the parameters myself. The BIOS (Phoenix) has the following fields:Cyl, Hd, Pre, LZ, and Sec. My drive came with the following data sheet: Model: ST1144AT ROM ver: 5.0 RAM ver: 5.d Drive Geometry Cyls: 1021 Heads:7 Sectors/Track 44 36 30 Bytes/Sector 512 Ok, cyl and hd are obvious, but for sectors... which number should it be? I used 30, and everything is fine, but then it formats out to just over 100 meg, and I was told this would format to 120 or so. When I tried 44 or 36 I get a "Hard disk error" when I try to boot. Can anyone tell me how to get the extra space? Please respond via email Parker -- Parker B. Waechter UCLA Biocybernetics Lab parkerw@cs.ucla.edu 4731 Boelter Hall Los Angeles, Ca. 90024-1596
