[comp.sys.ibm.pc] adding memory to XT

suzi@ficc.ferranti.com (susan bacon) (06/01/91)

My husband and I will be buying a 386 or 486 in the (hopefully near)
future. But since we can't afford 2 new systems, we'll have to keep our
current system as well. Since I will be stuck using the old XT clone,
I've been upgrading it a little. Currently the XT has 640K, DRDOS 5.0,
2 hard disks (40 & 20Mb), and a 360K floppy.

I've seen add-on memory boards for XTs that can hold up to 2Mb. If I
add 1 or 2 Mb RAM, how do I configure/use it with DRDOS 5.0? (Looking
at the manual did not clarify things since it assumes I understand the
terms extended memory, expanded memory, and LIM 4.0.)

Thanks for any info...
