[comp.sys.ibm.pc] Pull Down Menus

baulac@imag.imag.fr (Yves Baulac) (03/09/89)

We are looking for a simple set of functions to implement pull-down menus
in a quickC application without getting in gem, windows or such kits.
Does anyone be kind enough to tell us where it can be available?
Thanks. yves baulac

I don't exactly know how to word this question properly so that I can
get the correct suggestions (but here it goes anyway).

What I am trying to do is to have a menu bar (similar to say a MAC) and
from this pull dowm menu you can select options. (This was the easy part
to explain!) Now what is hard to explain (maybe) is how do you open the
pull down menu without erasing the text (say text in WordPerfect) when
close the pull down menu (i.e. after you have selected your option).
There had been one suggestion put forth by one person and that was to do
a screen save of the area that the menu would cover and to restore the
saved portion after the menu is closed.

What I would (ideally) like to do is to have the menu overlay the text
under it and thus the closing of the menu would not erase the text.
(Is this possible to do or what?)

If anyone know the answer to this, or has a better idea on how to do
this please respond by E-mail (I am unable to read news every day).

P.S.

The compiler I am using is Borland C++ and the computer is
MegaCom XT Turbo.

P.S.S.

Please if anyone wants to flame me for posting this here, and not in say
comp.os.msdos.programmers (which I am unable to subscribe to) or to
comp.lang.c (who have flamed me constantly about posting dos questions)
don't; save your time and other people's money because I will just
ignore the flame anyway.
