I have had problems mailing a note of thanks to several people who responded to my note from a couple of weeks ago. I'd like to thank you all publicly, then. The consensus was that indeed there is a serious problem in the phone manager, which is manifested after trying to switch a line from data to voice. The immediated solution is configure the systems for 2 lines, one data and one voice and never to switch. The data line should simply be unplugged when you don't want the machine to answer incoming calls.
