We will be shipping a 3B/2 next week via UPS I think. Is there a procedure when powering down the unit, such that the heads wind up in a safe area? We need to be sure that the unit will come back up safely and in working order. Thanks, Ray Jender rcj1!ihlpf

On the back of the drive (the end with the connectors), there is a small piece of metal that looks some thing like ----------- O | ----------- (The "O" indicates a hole.) It is approximately 1/4" wide and 1/16" thick. If it is pulled out from the drive about 1/2" the heads are mechanically locked in a safe position. This is very important. We were recently shipped a 3B2/400 with two disks. The heads were not locked and the package was dropped during shipment. Both disks were destroyed. -- Peter Fales UUCP: ...ihnp4!ihlpe!psfales work: (312) 979-7784 AT&T Information Systems, IW 1Z-243 1100 E. Warrenville Rd., IL 60566
