I think I have outsmarted myself. Please, wizards, tell me it aint so.
I bought an internal modem for my plus, running Unix and Simultask. I
figured "Hey! Why use up my serial port on a modem, I might need it
for something else?" The modem is a multitech 224 (Hayes compatible, and
then some).
Anyway, it works fine on the DOS side, since DOS knows about com2...
But, on the Unix side, Unix doesn't have a tty2. I thought (silly
me) that I could mknod one, but that's not enough. The ATT hotline
says I gotta buy the telephone management software to get a tty2
driver. They also suggest an outfit in CAL called VersaNet, form
whom I am awaiting a return phone call.
I'd be happy to spend a hundred bucks to solve this problem, or
maybe someone'd like to trade me an equivalent external modem for
my multitech?
