[comp.sys.att] AT&T 4425 cabling for 3b5 system console

Can someone please tell me what the proper cabling is to make an AT&T
4425 terminal the system console for a 3B5? It apparently is not a
null modem cable, as we have that at present, and the console hangs
every time we powerup the 3B5.

It is indeed a null modem cable you need.
I'm sure you've done this but do you reset the terminal baud
rate to 1200(or 300 on older systems) after power up?
Another strange thing I've seen is if you have something
connected to the "contty" port, it may interfere with
the console port.
Also I've seen some strange behavior attributable to the
terminal settings(line vs char mode).
Also for some odd reason the console may not respond when
in single user mode. The quick fix for this is to type in
stty sane ^j (That's control j). I don't think this is
your problem though since you are hung in IAU mode.

Hope this helps!

PS:	I much prefer the AT&T 4415 terminal.
