[comp.sys.att] Info on UNIX PC Voicepower Release 2

jhc@mtune.ATT.COM (Jonathan Clark) (08/05/87)

People have been asking about the UNIX PC voice capabilities.
I have been authorized to post the following information
(I sound like Frank-9000):
--
Release 2 of Voice Power adds the ability to support up to 7
voice cards simultaneously in one 3B1 (with expansion cabinet).
Release 2 features include:

+ Programmers toolkit providing full driver and
	applications voice library documentation.

+ Voice Data Access script interpretor for fast
prototyping of voice response applications using ASCII scripts.

+ Compatibility with the ATT Speech coding standard
	supporting record/play at 16, 24, 64 Kbps.

+ Automatic Attendant application for PBX's to allow
calls to be handled without a live attendant.

+ Voice Design Tool for designing applications using the
user agent. Good for non programmers.

Release 2 is an orderable ATT product with the following PECC codes:

37419: Card and system software ($999).

1030-101: Answering machine and electronic voice mail ($445)

	1030-010: Automated Attendant ($395).

	1030-012: Voice Design tool ($995).

Now I don't understand any of this stuff, but if people have heavy
questions about the technical features of the product I can maybe route
them to the originators of the package. Questions like "what's a PECC
code?' or 'what colour is it?' are likely to get a short and
physiologically improbable answer. Try calling one of the myriad 800
numbers and playing dumb.
