=> I am having problems using uugetty with a hayes 1200 modem on a 3B2.
=> I can dial-out without any problems, but dialing in doesn't work
=> correctly. What switch settings should I be using? What am I setting
=> up incorrectly.
=>
=> I also see potental problems with the current dialer entry for the hayes.
=> It currently does a delay and waits until an OK is received back from
=> the modem. It never arrives and it eventually times out and restarts
=> the sequence again and without any problems. If you have any ideas,
=> please e-mail me. Thanks!

Hello Net People:
In Gary Falsken of Renaissance Consulting's
article he states that they have a problem with a hayes
1200 and an AT&T 3B2. We have an AT&T 3B2/300 with a
hayes 1200. We too had this problem. We are using
AT&T's Basic Networking Utilities. Our modem is
connected to the contty port. One might try the
following entries in their /etc/inittab file:
TO ANSWER:
##:2:respawn:/etc/getty -t 60 tty## 1200
TO DIAL:
ct:2:off:/etc/getty -t 60 contty 1200
Where ## is the number of the tty.
With the combination of an AT&T 3B and a hayes
1200 (to the best of knowledge) one can not set the
modem bidirectional. I have never received a valid
reason for this. The switch settings for the hayes is
as follows:
TO ANSWER: TO DIAL:
1 3 5 7 90 12 4 7 90
---------- ----------
2 4 6 8 3 56 8
