I did this and now I get: > > FW ERROR 1-02: DISK SANITY FAILURE > > I say don't try it!!!!! > The act of unplugging the battery for about thirty seconds or more while the machine is off will indeed erase all of your NVRAM (Non-Volatile RAM) storage, which contains the firmware password. On the first subsequent application of power to the system, it will report an NVRAM SANITY FAILURE and say "Default values assumed", which means that "mcp" is your firmware password again. If you are careful in getting to the connector, since you cannot easily unplug it without unbolting the apparatus housing, there will be no problem. If you are not careful, you can possible zap the system board with static or disturb any of the disk cables. The DISK SANITY FAILURE message may be caused by you disturbing one or more of the cables to the hard disk(s) or something more serious, such as a static damaged system board. Try reseating all of the hard disk cables but BE CAREFUL and be grounded while doing so. Randy
