Recently we installed a 3COM ethernet LAN in our PC lab here at Penn State/York Campus. The Lab Consists of a total of 21 AT&T 6300's (18 of which are 2 floppy systems amd 3 of which are 1 floppy and 1 20MB hard drive). The 3 hard drive systems are set up normally to be servers and each have a IBM Proprinter connected to it. This setup works fine most of the time, except just last week, an HP Laserjet II was purchased to connect to the network. This was fine except that we seem to get anything to print out on it from the network. We can hook it up, not on the network and it works great, but when hooked up to the the output goes out the HP's print queue on the server and then doesn't go any further. It just sits there till we delete it from the Queue. I was wondering if the serial port to which we connected to the HP laser to is not liked by the Ethershare/Etherprint software or if I need to do something special to make it work on an AT&T 6300. Any help would be greatly appreciated, since I don't want to call 3COM since that would incurr a charge of $40(which I have not been given permission to do). Also the version of the Ethershar that we are using is Ver 2.5 and we have 3COM 3C501 boards installed in all the computers. Thanx in advance Leon Geesey Operator Techinician Penn State University
