Hoo boy. *Now* you tell us! My employers have already bought a number of Canon laserprinters on the assurance of Canon salespeople that they would work nicely for graphics with the Unix PC. Later we discovered that the salespeople had no idea what Unix was, let alone what a 3B1 was... Some of the Canons have been returned, and others we decided to keep and use solely for text. Now we are supposedly about to buy an HP Laserjet on the basis of similar assurances that it will work with our PCs. Our confidence was bolstered somewhat by the presence of an HP Laserjet entry in the menu of drivers under the UA. If we are mistaken, there will be some *very* unhappy people after the printer is delivered (and I don't want to be one of them :-) ). So... How are we supposed to know *for sure* what laser printers will do graphics with our machines and software? The printer manufacturers don't know the 3B1 and our local AT&T contacts say they don't know the printers. If you need to know the specifics of our setup, we are running 3.50 on a mess of 3B1s and 7300s. Software packages include Sound Presentations, GSS Chart, S, Supercomp 20, Smart Software and SigmaPlot (the latter under DOS). We want to be able to do both plotting per se and screen dumps. I'd really appreciate it if someone could give a sufficient rundown of what works with what, or where to find out, that we could proceed with some confidence. --- Prentiss Riddle ("Aprendiz de todo, maestro de nada.") --- Opinions expressed are not necessarily those of Shriners Burns Institute. --- riddle@woton.UUCP {ihnp4,harvard,seismo}!ut-sally!im4u!woton!riddle
