[comp.sys.att] New Gnu news for Unix PC owners

brant@manta.UUCP (Brant Cheikes) (09/20/87)

Gnu Emacs 18.49 has just been released by the Free Software
Foundation. I built the new version for my 3B1, and am henceforth
distributing it instead of 18.4[7-8].

I have also revamped my distribution method. I am no longer
distributing source and binaries separately, since experience has
shown that people want both. Now there is just one distribution that
contains all source code plus binaries. This distribution requires
seven (7) DSDD diskettes formatted for 10 sectors.

Along with this new distribution, I am including my modifications to
Gnu Emacs that enable the use of the Unix PC mouse. This turned out
to be a simple affair (after a pointer from Craig Loomis, blot!cpl).
I'm still trying to figure out how to make the Gnu Emacs executable
truly sharable (for faster loading).

If this is the first time you've heard of the Gnu Emacs distribution
for the AT&T Unix PC, and you're interested in obtaining a copy, write
to me at either of the addresses below for more information.
