My 3B1 shuld be arriving in a couple of weeks. It will probably be assigned to handle net news and have some public access. As I will be administering the darn thing, and I'm not an ultra-3rd level senior guru, I sure do appriciate hearing about easily fixed problems such as permissions that are not appropriate on the system files. There are umpteen files that make up Unix, and it is rather overwhelming for neophytes such as myself that don't yet know just where to look for problems. I'd really say that the administrator that places her/his machine in a potentially hostile public environment and doesn't bother to take steps (i.e. read security atricles on Usenet) to ensure the integrity of the system is the irresponsible party-- the people posting the articles aren't really the irresponsible ones. --Bill (wtm@neoucom.UUCP)
