I have at my disposal a 3b2/310 running 2.0.5 and the WIN TCP/IP software. It is equipped with 2MB of memory and a 30MB CDC Wren disk. I also have the great fortune of having a spare 70MB Micropolis disk with associated ribbon cable (its a leftover from a PC/RT upgrade). The edge connectors and power connectors at the back of the 70MB drive match those of the 30MB drive. The $64.00 question: How do I format the Micropolis drive? I have a vtoc file all set and ready to "fmthard". All I need now is some way of formatting it -- not just laying down a new vtoc. When I try "fmthard", I get CRC errors on block 0. I've seen discussions in this group before about a "devtools" diskette that may be capable of formatting my drive. I'd really appreciate it if someone "in the know" could point me in the direction of such a disk...if in fact it will do what I need. I could even send you a blank floppy (if its not illegal!). Thanks. -- Andy Pfiffer andy@tcgould.tn.cornell.edu Cornell Theory Center / Cornell U. cornell!batcomputer!andy Home of the first usable T-Series (607) 255-8686 "...that's the way a Transputer works, right?"
