Reference: Your note written 8:44 am Dec 28 in comp.sys.att There are several tricks to getting the 3B1 to be a repectable terminal. First of all, if your using the ATE software, you should move the mouse pointer off of the screen to the right. (This reduces the pointer to a single pixel). This is because the mouse pointer gets repainted after each scroll! Secondly, don't use the ATE software! Windows eat a lot of CPU time by themselves, you can imagine what they do with raw/cbreak IO! Also, the vt100 emulation of the ATE makes the input go thru a filter before it is displayed on the screen. I have a public domain version of MDM740.COM (remember, the old CP/M days?) that runs quite nicely on the 3b1. It doesn't use windows and doesn't try to emulate a vt100. (That means, of course, that you might have to create a termcap/terminfo entry for the native 3b1 on your host system). The source to 'mdm' was posted to unix-pc.sources (a little obscure news category) over a year ago. If you can't get a copy from a neighboring site, let me know and I'll mail the source to you.
