I am trying to find a way to print the output screen from Paint Power on my Tandy DMP-110 printer. I just got done writing a driver to do a screen print on it thanks to help I received from net readers, especially Harold Bamford (thanks again, guy!), and it works beautifully. Seems Paint Power doesn't know about the DMP-110 printer (surprise!). However, I like the printer, and it does a really nice job (besides being cheap). I would appreciate any information on how to print the Paint Power screen using this printer, or, at least, how to find out how to write a driver that would print the ENTIRE Paint Power picture screen, or at least how to get to the ADDRESS of the picture so I can dump the bit-map of the whole picture image. For those of you who are not sure what I'm talking about, the screen print I already have will only print a single visible screen display, whereas what I'm interested in is printing an ENTIRE Paint Power picture, which spans MORE than one screen, and is only truly visible on the 3B1 by scrolling. Thanks (of course) in advance! G. Mark (solution==1000 words) Stewart ATT-BTL Naperville ix1G-266 (312)979-0914 (include phone for reply) (* insert obscure reference, slogan or graphics here *)

Sorry I don't have any help for you on you query about PaintPower, but... Could you please post a description of PaintPower, what it does, and what it's good for? There are apparently a number of interesting packages available for the 3B1 that some of us have heard very little or nothing about. If anyone has experience with any other software packages for the 3B1 I'm sure the rest of us would appreciate hearing about them. I am under the impression that there is little or no software available for the 3B1 (other that what appears on the net, of course). PaintPower is a suggestive name, and I can guess what sort of program it is. Has anybody seen/heard of a (gasp!) desktop publishing type program? Better yet, has anybody whipped up a 3B1 graphics library for gnuEmacs? ;-) -- -- -- {decwrl, ames, pyramid, prls}!mips!wilkes -- OR, for those of great faith: -- wilkes@mips.com

I have had Paint Power installed on my 3B1 for quite some time. I would not qualify myself as an expert with it but I can describe some of its capabilities. Paint Power provides the user with the ability to create just about any kind of picture, graph or map, etc. It has a number of different brush textures as well as different patterns that you can choose from when drawing free-hand or creating any of the other shapes/objects you want. There is a text creation option that allows you to select several different fonts with a variety of text treatments such as: underlining, shadowing, reverse video and outlining. I have used it to make the kind of drawings you would use for a map to your house and have written a letter with it so my elderly parents wouldn't have trouble reading my lousy writing or this small computer print on my printer. My 7 and 9 year old kids have become fairly adept at using it and enjoy playing with Dad's computer whenever I let them have a chance to get on the system. (They have their own logins and passwords, btw) :-) I will have to check tomorrow for the information on price and where you could order it. I will post this as soon as I can find it. I also have used a package called Sound Presentations before that has some additional capabilities over Paint Power. AT&T also has a package called Image Director that would possibly be considered a low-level desktop publishing software package. I will post info on both of these packages also. AT&T has a software catalog that lists UNIX PC software in it. You can order one for 19.95 from 1-800-432-6600. Rich Bergstedt 23421 S.
