When I was a kid, Wizard of Oz gave me nightmares. I was terrified of those flying monkeys. Personally, I prefer "The Wiz", for many reasons, which I won't enumerate here unless requested. Anybody else have comments on these films? It is very hard to figure out what my favortie films are, and almost impossible to figure out why. Probably a lot of it has to do with the general quality of my life the first time I see the film -- If I was incredibly happy at that time, subsequent viewings of the film will remind me of those days. I realise that this is probably the worst conceivable reason to like a film, but there it is. Another strange thing is that nobody seems to like the films I like. My favorite films: #1: Kelly's Heroes. Suffers from a botched editing job -- you kind of have to put the story back together yourself. But it's a great story! Others in no particular order: Xanadu: ELO for music, Gene Kelley for class, Olivia Newton-John for whatever else. A fantastic [in the original sense of the word] story. The wackos beat the system. Start the Revolution without Me: Donald Sutherland. Gene Wilder. Need I say more? Hair: This movie was made 10 years to late to be popular. One of the most heart-wrenching endings on celluloid. Chariots of Fire: The only good film I've seen with an evangelical Christian in a positive role. The fact that it managed to portray this and still be a popular & award-winning movie is a tribute to its quality. Cat Ballou: I choose this as a representative of an entire genre I love -- The western spoof. Include with this Evil Roy Slade, Support Your Local Sheriff, and of course, Blazing Saddles. Consider this to be a representative list -- I'm sure there are a lot I have forgotten. -Glenn
