This time I saw it happen. I was doing a "tail -f" on the log file
for the uucico process that was currently happening.
Then I got this:
lenny bob301 bob301N6559 (1/24-0:06:36,111,3) CAUGHT (SIGNAL 1)
The system when crazy at that point... it was scrolling garbage, the
"working" icon was flashing on and off, I couldn't interrupt it. I tried
getting out of the "tail" but it was all locked up at that point. The
suspend key didn't do anything. I was stuck! Had to press the RESET.
I hate doing that since it crashes the filesystem and takes at leasts
two times to reboot.
I wish someone would fix the modem driver. It seems like something
to do with a uucico process hanging up abnormally (or normally) and
sending a lot of BREAKs to the modem. If this happens at the right
CPU cycle the machine goes haywire. It seems to have to do with
the uptime of the machine also. It seems to happen regularly after
4 days of continuous running.
It's happened with HDB UUCP (what I'm running) and the generic
UUCP as well. Help AT&T!
