I want a real wordprocessor on my PC. I want to see different-sized fonts, with proportional-spaced characters, where what you see is what you want, or at least is close. There are lots of powerful, adequately-simple PC and UNIX wordprocessors that produce monospaced characters, and maybe italic or underline. That's boring. Emacs and vi can do that. There are a few hard-to-use, powerful systems for desk-top publishing. If I want that, I've already got troff. I want something at least as good as MacWrite was 3 years ago, at least as easy to use. If it can't use a CGA screen, fine. I'll buy EGA. (though I'd rather use my existing 640x400 AT&T screens.) I'll even use Microslow Windows, if I have to, though it's a dog on 8086's. It would be nice if it either can translate to troff, or at least produces postscript, but if the output format is documented I can work with it. -- # Thanks; # Bill Stewart, AT&T Bell Labs 2G218, Holmdel NJ 1-201-949-0705 ihnp4!ho95c!wcs
