I've been experiencing some weird errors the last two days, and I am attributing them to one of three things. 1. Installation of the 3.51a kernel from the fixdisk [ie. bug in kernel] 2. Installation of EIA/RAM board w/1MB of memory. 3. Change of IC chip on EIA board revision J as per the HOTLINE's instructions. Or maybe all had something to do with it. First error occured yesterday... I wasn't home so I don't know the sequence of events that lead up to it: panic: trap vector 4 double panic: trap ... [repeated about 5 times] I woke up today and saw the [!!] error icon, and I pressed it and saw: Does this mean the devil is in my machine? ;-) +----------------------------------+ |System Error | | | | /proc/06666 | | | | Touch ENTER ... | +----------------------------------+ I then proceeded to examine /usr/adm/unix.log for anything weird. I had the customary "Spurious interrupt .." and the "FDERR" from floppies, and at the end I had: NMI (parity error) at 0x2FFBC0 (*hpte: 0xE1F7) Thu Mar 31 18:03:15 1988 NMI (parity error) at 0x82200 (*hpte: 0x41EB) Sat Apr 2 06:05:25 1988 NMI (parity error) at 0x82200 (*hpte: 0x41FF) Sun Apr 3 03:46:23 1988 This to me sounds like a MEMORY problem. 0x82200 sounds like something on the motherboard, and I assume the larger hex address 0x2FFBC0 is the extended memory. Sounds like time to run diagnostics again :-{ -Lenny -- US MAIL : Lenny Tropiano, ICUS Computer Group IIIII CCC U U SSS PO Box 1 I C U U S Islip Terrace, New York 11752 I C U U SS PHONE : (516) 968-8576 [H] (516) 582-5525 [W] I C U U S TELEX : 154232428 [ICUS] IIIII CCC UUU SSS AT&T MAIL: ...attmail!icus!lenny UUCP : ...{mtune, ihnp4, boulder, talcott, sbcs, bc-cis}!icus!lenny
