I have a question concering the wiring scheme for DTE to DTE connection. I am using a RJ-11 - DB25 adaptor. The problem is that there are only 4 wires available to connect. I do know I need pins 2 & 3 crossed and pin 7 is a straight thru. Now, what do I do with the extra wire and would I have to short any pins on the serial port end of the unix-pc? Thanks for the info. -- JL Gomez

Here's what I've been using reliably: OTHER DTE UNIX PC (1)----------------------------(1) (2)----------------------------(3) (3)----------------------------(2) (7)----------------------------(7) +---(4) | +---(5) +---(6) | +---(8) | +---(20) Thad Floryan [ thad@cup.portal.com (OR) ...!sun!portal!cup.portal.com!thad ]
