[net.movies] Bad Movie!

The worst movie I have seen in recent history was "Ator" staring Miles
O'Keefe and a cast of Italian unknowns. Yes this is the guy from Tarzan
and Bo Derek fame. I won't go over it again since I reviewd it here when
it came out. But I will say that after seeing this film, I know why
O'Keefe didn't have any lines in Tarzen.

Here's an all-time stinker: "STAR CRASH"
Note: this article has spoiler information in it, but I wouldn't worry
      if I were you.

This was made right after the first Star Wars movie, with a budget
I would estimate at about $12.47. In the opening scene you look out
into space at the stars, which are obviously colored lights put on a
black backdrop.

The story is about a war between the good emperor and the bad emperor.
In the big battle scene, the good emperor's troops are loaded into
torpedoes and shot into space at the bad emperor's battle cruisers. The
torpedoes crash through the plate-glass windows on the bad emperor's
ship, and the good troops jump out and start doing battle with the bad
troops. This part couldn't be more hilarious if they had tried (which
they didn't, I checked it out).

In the final scene, the good emperor and his friends are tricked into a
room on a planet where a bomb is about to explode. The good emperor
saves everyone by calling in a beam from space to halt the passage of
time. The good guys then calmly walk out of the room.

A real howler, but I guess someone has to make them.

I rather enjoyed STAR CRASH! 2001 it isn't, but the colors are nice,
the heroine scrumptuous, and sound didn't travel in vacuum any better than
it did in Star Wars.

The funniest scene is a closeup of a zapped android that clearly revealed
some 1930's style air padders from an I.F. can.

Unfortunately, the flick didn't stay around long enough for me to see it
more then once. May parts of it will show up in "It Came From Hollywood -
Part II".

My 'favorite' is "The Creeping Terror" starring a 15 ft stalk of
broccoli that eats a senior prom (among other things and people)
and has the narrator telling you what the characters onscreen are
saying. (i.e. 'Captain Bill says, 'We ought to kill it!" Lt. Jim says,
"But it's valuable! The only one of its kind!" Captain Bill says, "Go
to hell, sir!" ' at which point he throws a handgrenade at the
stalk.) It won the heav-o award at UNICON a few years back.
"The Alien Factor" is also pretty bad (although the special effects
are pretty good, and the story is ok.)

Star Crash has another great scene during the space battle between the
good guys and the bad guys (probably some kind of "Empire"). The good
guys attack the bad guys ship by putting people in little torpedos and
shooting them at the bad guys ship. The torpedos crash through the
giant picture windows then pop open and the good guys jump out guns
ablazing! The broken glass and open window remain throughout the scene
and nobody manages to get sucked out into the vastness of space.
This is the best worst movie I've seen.
