The song is by Slade, from their album "Keep Your Hands Off My Power Supply." It has a fairly interesting video, set at a Scottish castle, which was number four for the week on MTV. Not half bad stuff. -- Stewart Wiener / Princeton Univ. EECS / princeton!tilt!smw Graduating & seeking work... can YOUR site use an entry-level Unix programmer?

[heilige Heilbut, Fliedermausmensch!] Can anybody tell me who does the song "Run run away"? I have heard it twice now on KPEN (a top-40 station in Palo Alto), but never on KWSS (a top-40 station in Gilroy). It has a somewhat "Big Country"-ish sound to it, but the lead vocals don't sound right. It also has the word "Chameleon" in it a lot, but it's definitely not Culture Club. Any help would be appreciated. -Glenn {allegra,amd70,cbosgd,hpda,harpo,ihnp4,sri-unix,vortex}!fortune!grw

The song is done by a group called "Slade". Their first "hit" was "Get Down, Get With It" circa 1968. "Run Run Away" is from the album "Don't Touch My Power Supply".

"Run Runaway" is done by the group Slade. They released the original version of "Cum on Feel the Noize" (no flames please). -- Be ye moby, for I am moby. Greg Skinner (gregbo) {decvax!genrad, eagle!mit-vax, ihnp4}!mit-eddie!gds Joy is in the ears that hear.

The band that does the song "Run Run Away" is called Slade. The album is called "Keep Your Hands Off My Power Supply". I do not own the album, so I don't know anything about the label, etc. The song has received quite a bit of airplay in the last month here in the Boston area. An interesting note: this group is an old group. Sometime in the early 70's they recorded a little song called "Come on Feel the Noise" (I refuse to spell it differently). Along comes 1983 and a new heavy metal band named Quiet Riot does a cover of the song and makes millions. This may have prompted the original artists to come out of retirement (pure speculation on my part). Some people have likened Slade to the fictitious band Spinal Tap (from the movie of almost the same name). Interesting. Let's hear it for the old folks going out and cranking it up.
