[net.movies] Wannaseeyums

tugs@utcsrgv.UUCP (Stephen Hull) (10/27/83)

A Wannaseeyum is a film that I may have seen in the past and forgotten most
of; on the other hand, they may just be films I thought it'd be nice to have
a look at. Either way, I wannaseeyum. Any constructive comments out there
about these films? Please note that messages which reduce to "It's great!"
or "It's lousy!" do NOT constitute constructive comments. On the other hand,
messages which require a minimal amount of thought before they are typed DO.

Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner (1964?) starring Tom Courtenay
	- never seen it, but it ought to be good. The short story certainly
	  was.

Martian Space Party (1970?) The Firesign Theatre
	- I don't know a thing about it, but coming from these guys, there
must be something of worth there. I'd be pleased to hear how it
compares with their albums (i.e. is it a Bozos/Dwarf style film,
or a Dear Friends style, or a (horrors!) Not Insane style...)

200 Motels (1970?) Frank Zappa
	- same here -- I love the music.

Modesty Blaise (1966) dir. Joseph Losey (!), w/ Monica Vitti
	- I forget what this is like, but a friend says I have to put
this down. It's really silly fun, as I recall...

How Yukong Moved the Mountains (1976) dir. Jois Ivens, Marceline Loridan
	- this is a 763 minute long (yes, 12 hours, 43 minutes) look at
modern day China -- supposedly an unequalled example of presenting
a foreign culture by means of the cinema. Sounds fascinating, but
then, I thought Our Hitler was fascinating too...

The Immortal Story (1968) dir. Orson Welles, w/ Welles, Jeanne Moreau
	- a Welles film you never get a chance to see. Need I say more?
