Let me get three minor complaints off my chest first: 1. German scientists working on the space program are treated like a bunch of clowns in this film -- they even sing Lily Marlene in a bar together. Funny in Hogan's Heroes, pathetic in a film of this caliber. 2. Mysticism is injected into Glenn's orbit when some Aborigines(?) supposedly communicate with him. This does not belong here. 3. Chuck Yeager and his wife look EXACTLY the same in 1947 as they do in 1963. However, these faults are easily forgiven because this film is superb, wonderful, funny, touching, patriotic, magnificent, awe-inspiring. Terrific acting, cinematography, script, direction. **** - Go see it!
